Financial Security

Security Statement

The First State Bank of Munich recognizes the importance of customer security and protecting your confidential financial information is our highest priority. Maintaining the highest standards of security to ensure a secure exchange of information with our customers is not only our goal, but our primary objective.

As part of our commitment, customer information and account data is protected by multiple secure protocols: firewalls, data encryption and a variable password. FSBM provides end-to-end encryption to secure transactions while in transit. Encryption technology transmits information sent over the Internet by encoding the transmitted data. Firewalls are designed to safeguard information stored in the bank's computer systems from unauthorized access. In essence, encryption is the scrambling of data, which makes it useless to anyone until it is "unscrambled" once it reaches the specified end user.

Account information is also protected with a Password created by and known only to the customer. Passwords are required to access accounts through FSBMe-Banking and to complete transactions. Since only the customer has access to this private Password, confidence can be assured that the data is secure if the Password is not provided to someone else. A "locked" icon displayed at the of bottom the computer screen ensures that you are in a save environment. To gain a greater level of protection, it is recommended that Passwords be memorized and kept secret. Passwords should be changed on a regular basis and should not include birth dates, first or last names or other documented numbers or letters that may be easy to locate. They should include a combination of numbers, letters, symbols and capitalization. If you believe your information is being used fraudulently, please contact the bank immediately, either in person, by phone or in writing. For more information regarding fraudulent account activity, please read the Identity Theft information provided in the Financial Security section of this WEB site.

FSBMe-Banking provides a secure e-mail system which uses data encryption to help protect correspondence, however, confidential information, such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, mother's maiden name and financial information should not be transmitted through any e-mail system. Likewise, The First State Bank of Munich will not ask for information to be transmitted to us in this manner. Should any questions arise or if this information is required for some purpose, please contact a staff member directly.
